What is a thriller?

Thriller is a genre, used in films, programs etc. A thriller film would be a film with an exciting plot, which normally involves crime, mystery, or espionage. There would be excitement, hidden identity, murder and more often then not there would be good and bad battling against each other.

An example of thriller would be 'The Usual Suspects'. I studied their film cover and picked out key points that suggested it was a thriller. The poster shows 5 men at a line up. You can find out about their personalities from the poster. 5 men in a police line up. They are all dressed differently, one of them is in a cream suit, one is wearind a long leather jacket. They are various different heights. None of them are smiling. Man on the far right is holding his arm. Man dressed in leather is shown with an agressive stance. There are horizontal lines behind them, the tallest man is in the middle forming a pyramid shape. The title is red font.

Analysing these points:

The fact ther are in a police line up signifies they are in trouble. They are all in the same situation, as they are all stood together. The man wearing the cream suit looks slightly different to the others, the light coloured suit symbolises innocence and goodness. Red font represents danger and symbolises blood. The man holding arm for discomfort or for disability purposes. Pyramid could show power, hierachy between the characters.
